ABOUT NELSON SALINAS

Rooted in Shafter

Nelson Salinas was raised in Shafter, growing up in the projects as part of a family of field workers. He understands firsthand the challenges many families face, but also what’s possible through hard work, persistence, and opportunity.

Through that mindset, Nelson built a career as a business owner and community leader. Today, he serves as CEO of N&L Farm Labor Services and co-owns several local businesses alongside his family.

No matter the success, one thing has remained constant:
his commitment to giving back to the community that raised him.

A Record of Service

Nelson currently serves as Chairman of the Shafter Recreation and Parks District Board, where he was re-elected to a second term representing District 1.

In this role, he has focused on delivering real results for local families:

  • Expanding youth sports and after-school programs

  • Keeping participation affordable for all families

  • Building partnerships with local schools

  • Strengthening community engagement and sponsorships

His leadership is centered on one goal:
creating more opportunities for the people of Shafter.
